ATF Financial Solutions App
Scaling design at high velocity

Overview
ATF is a banking solutions app focused on business clients, offering features that range from sharing a receipt to making Pix transactions — an instant payment system created by the Central Bank of Brazil — and issuing payment requests. With a lean team of just three UX designers, one art director, and one head of marketing, we designed all the essential experiences a financial institution needs to provide a complete banking service.

Operational Strategy & Frameworks
Agile Efficiency: We adopted a Scrumban methodology to bridge the gap between structured planning and the need for high-velocity, continuous delivery. This provided the flexibility to pivot based on roadmap shifts without compromising the delivery of core banking features.
Design Governance: I utilized the Double Diamond framework to anchor the design process. By strictly defining the Develop and Deliver phases, I ensured that every UI solution was not only refined through rigorous prototyping but also validated against user needs and technical constraints before handoff.

Challenge
Legacy to Premium This project was a cornerstone of ATF’s strategic rebranding. We inherited a legacy product hindered by fragmented positioning and the lack of a formal Design System. The mission was to overhaul the digital experience to compete with Brazil’s top-tier banking benchmarks—all within a high-pressure, three-month delivery window.
Strategic Execution & Scope
End-to-End Design: Orchestrated the complete redesign of the mobile experience, producing over 300 screens while maintaining rigorous quality standards.
Rapid Brand Internalization: Led the team in quickly absorbing and applying the new brand identity, pivoting from a lack of guidelines to a cohesive, modern visual language in real-time.
Design Governance: To ensure 100% consistency across such a massive scope, I helped define clear ownership and established a cadence of alignment syncs. This ensured that every user flow and component remained unified within the new Design System.
The Impact By integrating a collaborative, high-velocity workflow with a scalable modular architecture, we delivered a robust, market-ready product. We successfully bridged the gap between a "startup" legacy and a professional, high-impact banking application, setting a new foundation for future feature growth.

Outcome
Transforming a bureaucratic interface into a modern, transparent experience while ensuring the product could scale without losing brand integrity.
Modular Design System: I architected a UI component library based on Material Design, enabling a seamless translation of ATF’s new brand identity into the digital product. This approach accelerated development handoff and ensured technical scalability.
Optimizing Complex Workflows: By restructuring visual hierarchy and interaction patterns, I converted rigid, legacy modules into intuitive journeys. This led to a significant reduction in user friction and boosted overall platform trust.
Cross-Platform Consistency: Implementing clear interaction principles eliminated behavioral gaps, creating a predictable and cohesive experience across all touchpoints.
Future-Proof Foundation: Beyond delivering MVP screens, I established a robust design framework and UX guidelines, empowering the team to iterate and launch new features with speed and consistency.
Pillar | Design Approach | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
Architecture | Material Design-based modularity | Clean, modern, and maintainable interface |
Interaction | Visual hierarchy restructuring | Bureaucratic flows became intuitive and fluid |
Consistency | Strict Design System implementation | Predictable experience and stronger brand identity |
Future-Proof | Comprehensive UX guidelines | Solid foundation for rapid feature evolution |
Design and Prototyping
Our design process began with a deep competitive analysis of leading digital banking products, identifying industry benchmarks to inform our user flows. We mapped out friction points and opportunities for improvement, ensuring every decision was aligned with our technical feasibility and codebase. This resulted in a gamified, intuitive experience with consistent design patterns that foster user familiarity across all journeys.
To elevate the prototype, we prioritized micro-interactions to create a more immersive and high-fidelity experience for stakeholder presentations. Defining these animations required close cross-functional collaboration with the engineering team, ensuring that every motion was not only fluid and engaging but also technically implementable.

Testing and improvements
To ensure a secure launch, we initiated an internal beta release (dogfooding) with ATF employees to test the product in a real-world environment. This phase was crucial for uncovering usability gaps and identifying both design and technical bugs that only surface during daily active use.
We managed these insights by creating a structured backlog in Jira, documenting each issue with detailed descriptions and assigning priority levels. This approach allowed us to maintain an efficient workflow, focusing on incremental improvements and rapid bug fixes to ensure a polished final experience.
